Eclipse Ganymede 3.4 Install
This installation journal entry for eclipse follows “Getting Eclipse for My Way” from month 2, 2007. It builds upon the work recorded last year. These steps and pieces for this year’s install are:
- Eclipse IDE for Java Developers (http://www.eclipse.org/downloads/).
- Web Tools Platform (WTP) Project Maintenance Build: M-3.0.1-20080731174940 (http://download.eclipse.org/webtools/downloads/drops/R3.0/M-3.0.1-20080731174940/).
- http4e (http://code.google.com/p/http4e/ —install: http://http4e.roussev.org/install/)
- PHP Development Tools (1.0.3) (http://www.eclipse.org/pdt/).
- Java Edition of the Colorer-take5 library (http://sourceforge.net/projects/colorer/).Having ‘lived’ with this new situation for a few days, I can say (once again dammit) that I am disappointed. First of all, the Ganymede Error Log is brimming with crap I don’t care about—actually the number of errors is just overwhelming so to say ‘I don’t care’ is another way of saying ‘I am overwhelmed.’ Syntax coloring is missing from PHP files (I thought this might be a collision with Colorer-take5 but does not seem to be).
Eclipse has thousands of moving parts that must be tended to by hand. NetBeans, by the way, automates a lot with an installer. I see this article, “Set Up Eclipse PDT 2.0 On Eclipse 3.4 (Ganymede)” which is another lengthy Linux adventure that awaits…

Thanks for the plugin list. I just found Htt4e http://http4e.roussev.org/ and it is awesome plugin for REST and HTTP client calls.
Thanks for sharing.
