Amazon.com gives away MP3s from Africa

Salif Keita... Newsflash! I can’t keep up with everything. It seems that for quite some time Amazon.com continued to develop its Music Downloads service—and now it has quite a large selection of freely downloadable content. I am currently browsing their “International” Africa section and found a few impressive cuts. I’m very much digging a track from Les Ambassadeurs Internationales with Salif Keita and there are many others from the old country that I do not know by name that I am relatively free to discover.

I welcome this new way find new music in this toxic age of Clear Channel. It is an interesting coda to my four-part series at kintespace.com, “lines in the rasx context,” which finds me defending my innocence in the face MP3 “piracy.” Thanks Amazon.com for this—even this little bit of free, ‘legitimate’ music.
