PHP class for use with OPML

I don’t want to roll my own, arbitrary schema until I eliminate the standard schemas that may be a solution to a particular XML-based problem. OPML (Outline Processor Markup Language) may be one of those solutions. Since I use PHP for almost all of my public Webs the OPML PHP Class makes sense to me.

Upgrading WordPress

Speaking of PHP, I still haven’t upgraded the code-base behind this Blog. Typical.

The Blog World Explained at CodeProject.com

Speaking of the Blog, Kareem Shaker overviews this whole thang in “Blogs,RSS News feeders, and ATOM.” Another little ditty, “Whitepaper: Pingback vs Trackback,” reveals gritty details of Web log technology.

Open Source XML Editors

Ryan Paul at newsforge.com covers free XML editors in “Open source XML editors examined.” I was of course thinking of human-language XML editors. But the article mostly covers editors for programming languages (there is some stuff about DocBook support but… well… Microsoft Word’s XML features still stand out—see “Using Word as an XML editor in Office 2003” on the MSDN Nuggets page.) Bluefish stands out among Ryan Paul’s picks—because it runs on Windows and appears to support PHP better than Dreamweaver.

Who needs an enemy when you can divide and conquer yourself?

Speaking of Open Source software, an entry at ranum.com covers the destruction of UNIX technological mind-and-market-share as an inside job.

IBM XML Tips

Big blue presents “A growing collection of tips for XML developers”—yet another title that speaks for itself.

Web Services with NuSOAP

Zend.com introduces NuSOAP, more open source for PHP. SonghaySystem.com can’t pinch Amazon.com pennies without it. Speaking of Amazon.com, the Amazon RSS Feed Generator is an interesting tool that should inspire Amazon.com to supply a similar tool that can be customized by associates.
