Before Google Earth There Were the Films of Charles and Ray Eames
When I saw Powers of Ten in the collection, The Films of Charles & Ray Eames, a short film made in 1977 (the same year Star Wars exploded on the scene), I thought of Google Earth screen grabs. This shot of the film’s ‘user interface’ surely serves as an inspiration for any geo-software developer. Check out this shot of the Google Earth UI below:
According to Wikipedia.org, we must credit the Dutch educator and pacifist, Kees Boeke for being the first to visualize the zoom concept in print before the Eameses motion picture.
