Your “ish” might be bugging the friends and family of Kathryn Ish

This note is just a reminder for all of the 21st-century slang bangers that use the word “ish” that there was actually a person named Kathryn Ish. She doing some polyester comedy in the freeze-frame-credits shot (above) from WKRP in Cincinnati—The Complete First Season (1978).

Joking around with my six- and five-year old babies I would freeze like a mime, making fun of these freeze-frame endings, which were oh-so stylish for 1970s television—so now I have unwittingly inspired my children to go around continually freezing in front of me. It will probably take decades for my little ones to find out where my bright idea came from…
