Bryan D. Wilhite “mistaken” for a Republican

Republican Data Mining

So, dig, I got this letter from some folks representing the Republican Party. It made me laugh and made me feel lonely in the same moment. Here in the rasx() context, getting a letter like this is deeply symbolic of my so-called “life” here in these parts. It hits home how so-called “conservatives” can be very effective “community” leaders—actually populating their philistine camp with “diverse” outreach—while so-called “liberals” wall themselves off in bitchy little homogeneous enclaves of self-absorbing directionless socializing, dressed in identical Star Trek uniforms.

I admit that I have a Republican profile: I’ve got a German last name (by way of slavery); I’m a computer programmer; I’ve single-handedly grossed about one million dollars for two different Orange-County-based small businesses in less than three years (which is why, in very large part, I have not had enough time to Blog here in the rasx() context). And most importantly to Republican data miners: I do not register myself as a Democrat.

Dig this deeper: there is this photograph of me posing with California State Senator Mark Ridley-Thomas. I am not going to post this picture on the Internet because there is third person in the picture that I no longer want to associate myself with—and I refuse to cut people out of pictures like a little bitch. The picture was taken at some kind of rally at a mansion in Baldwin Hills with Geoffrey Osborne singing on the mic. I had an enjoyable time. But I know that I would appear there, get stared at quizzically and leave like a ghost—like brothers like me never existed.

But, somehow, to some dudes in the Republican Party, I exist. How the fuck can I show up in person for decades at liberal/Democratic shit—at liberal/Black technology conferences—and get zero follow up—but, somehow, these republicans can find me?

Instead of acting like the coy little bitch of rhetoric, let me answer the question: Karl Rove data mining culture is an innovation of the Republicans; bitchy, petty, catty Hollywood culture is an innovation of the Democrats. Both parties will influence the other with their cultural values.
