VMware Reveals Power Management Issues in Dell Inspiron 6400
When my Dell Inspiron 6400 is running on the battery VMware measures the CPU at some number less than 500 MHz. When you plug the AC in, VMware still measures the low value—and this does not go away until reboot under AC power. This seems like a step backwards because my old Dell Inspiron 8100 would change its clock speed on the fly without any need to reboot. Either there’s a firmware upgrade in order or there’s something I’ve missed.
I need a convenient (and free) tool that can measure CPU performance in Windows.
