CNETtv.com Drops Its Slick All-Flash Interface

I assume I am very late to notice this but the CNETtv.com site has dropped it’s “immersive” Flash interface and switched over to what I consider the ‘conservative’ model that let’s HTML/XHTML load ‘blocks’ of content—that includes Flash content.

I can only hope the hope of the captive that Adobe no longer ‘celebrates’ or ‘encourages’ these all-Flash designs (outside of rare cases like full-screen video or some kind of Second Life candy). To me, this design is descendant of the Macromedia salad days of the “multimedia” CD-ROM era and needs to be discarded for the AJAX reality of a Web that is “burdened” with these open standards.

Carousel Component, again!

Sadly, the Carousel Component was mentioned earlier in this Blog—way, way back in August 2006. This means that I’m behind schedule. What’s the point of writing anything new?

“Quick and Clean PHP Forms”

Adam Smith on “Quick and Clean PHP Forms” is not for my personal style but a great alternative for some team-leading situations.

Adobe Version Cue

I just thought it would be cute to mention that Adobe Version Cue uses Java Server Faces. This becomes apparent when you mess with the SDK.

WindowsClient.NET Control Gallery

“The Control Gallery is a directory of controls that you can use in your applications. The number in parenthesis indicates how many controls are available in the category.”
