Dr. Lillian McLean Beard and other links…

Dr. Lillian McLean Beard You should watch Dr. Lillian McLean Beard, her 45-minute lecture on Pediatric Asthma on YouTube.com, the University of California Channel. I was surprised to find that children with multiple caretakers have trouble making sure these children get medication in the proper doses (or at all). Also parents will promise not to smoke or get rid of allergenic pets for the sake of their child but will often not keep this promise. Dr. Lillian McLean Beard is quick to point out that asthma kills—and a disproportionate amount of children of African or Native American (“Hispanic”) descent are killed.

“AG’s Blog: A shout for Mutambara”

July 1, 2008: “Mutambara taught in the FAMU/FSU College of Engineering, he specialized in Controls, more specifically Mechatronics. I believe he also taught Robotics as well… It was much later that I learned that his life was in danger, but I knew that he would not be bowed and would not retreat. These are the lessons that he instilled in his students.” Survey the books written by Arthur G.O. Mutambara on worldcat.org.

“Food as Brain Medicine”

UCLA: “Among other recent findings, junk food can actually damage the brain, and what your grandparents ate before your parents were born could impact you, said Fernando Gómez-Pinilla, a UCLA professor of neurosurgery and physiological science…” This is why I have been exceedingly angry at the concept of people who consider the preparation of food as “woman’s work” or a servile, demeaning concern… truly barbarian is such a concept…
