My Eldest Son and the Hawaii Earthquake

There is a long story about why my son is living in Hawaii with his mother. Unfortunately, I will have to depend on your imagination as to why this is the case—and no, none of the characters in this story are rich or even middle class. There is a “ghetto” or two in Hawaii you know… What is important now is that he is well. On the heels of the earthquake, he reports this:

Yes, there was a rolling blackout all over the islands. On top of that, there was extremely heavy rain. At around 7:00 AM that morning, there was a slight and brief tremor that woke me up. At first, I thought the island was under attack by the North Koreans. My mother was already awake downstairs. She said the ground was “like water”. The big island was hit the hardest as usual. There was plenty of panic, but no fatalities. The locals didn’t seem to take it very well, living in a place where earthquakes are uncommon. Our power was restored before nightfall. My anxiety faded after I received news from the local radio stations.

Now I can refer all of my properly wired relatives to this Blog post in response to how my son is doing!
