The Undercover Black Man Blog

Undercover Black ManThe Undercover Black Man, by an unnamed screenwriter currently residing in Glendale, CA, is my number one pick for Black-oriented Blog sites. This number one position kicks out this Blog from my number one spot so you must know that these words are serious. The difference between Undercover Black Man and the typical Black Blog that scrolled across my desktop is that this author has a decent mix of first-hand historical documentation and a timely pop-cultural sense.

His ‘documentation’ consists of interviews complied over his past life as a journalist. My recent favorites are: Q&A: Chris Rock (pt. 1), Q&A: Chris Rock (pt. 2), Q&A: George Clinton (pt. 1) and Q&A: George Clinton (pt. 2). Let’s look forward to him setting a trend to encourage other people with strong African features and strong writing skills to dig into their archives to share more of their past with the youth of today, without the impoverished fear of losing something for sale. This expression of true wealth should set an example that will be non-consciously imitated, strengthening the work ethic and organizing skills of our youth.

Most of the historical material in the kinté space is second-hand. Every eye within me looks forward to getting out into the world to generate more first-hand documentary material. In the mean time, do browse our “Interviews and Documentary” files under the “space time” index here in the kinté space.

Hey Bryan. I'm most grateful for the shout-out. I was real lucky during my journalism life to meet and talk to some of my culture heroes... Clinton, J.B., Pryor, Curtis Mayfield, Cab Calloway (think I taped over that interview though, dammit), Avery Brooks... I'm glad to put the information out there, and even gladder that somebody can find it and take some value from it.

You might have some of those interviews on tape---even old-school magnetic cassette tape. You should have those digitized! Let me know how that goes and any assistance needed.
