Open Source SSH News for Long-time Mac Users
A lot of cool, hip Mac users, who have been the upper crust with the white plastic since before OSX, are still using FTP outside of the .Mac/Mobileme sandbox. To keep it short and tight fitting—like a black turtle neck, FTP is less secure than SSH and FTP—or SFTP. So here is a little table of news about what has happened a few years:
[Cyberduck](http://cyberduck.ch/) | This one looks like the best open source SFTP tool out there right now… |
[ExpanDrive](http://www.magnetk.com/expandrive/) | In case you are actually willing to pay some money for this kind of software, check out this product. I use the PC version of this product, [SftpDrive](http://www.sftpdrive.com/). |
“[Using SSH in Mac OS X](http://www.sfsu.edu/~helpdesk/ssh/ssh_osx/ssh_osx.htm)” | A collegian introduction to SSH on the Mac. |
[Open Source Mac](http://www.opensourcemac.org/) | An uncomfortably short list of what is evidently the best and brightest open source software for contemporary Apple computers. |
