Flippant Remarks about Amanda Silver

hauling merchIt is because of Amanda Silver that I actually registered for a live MSDN “webcast” because my ongoing preference is to listen to these events on demand rather than trying to catch something live.

The only practical reason (for me) to catch an event live is to ask a question of the presenter. My years of experience with archived MSDN events show me that asking questions this way is almost pointless. So the non-practical reason for attending this crap live is to support the speaker with the power of your planetary human presence. This power is like the power of the gravitational field of the Earth—it seems insignificant until it is multiplied.

Amanda Silver deserves my insignificant support because she vibes as cool as Microsoft can get to cool. Among the “MS Personalities” presented on Channel9, Amanda Silver has a contemporary style of presentation that impressed me the most. My classic Redmond niner is Don Box. But Don is about tech comedy and charismatic geek wit while Amanda is on to something else… Some dude under the tag “eagle” says this about her (in “What does the lineage of VB mean to you?”):

Amanda is an amazing woman; she is super smart and completely gorgeous.

BFFAnd in that comment hides my problem. You see, this is not what should be said about Amanda Silver. You might want to call this a boy being a boy and you might want to respect the boy as straight forward while you see me seemingly beating around the bush. No. I don’t beat around bushes. I’m a poet trying to find the correct words…

The image among my thoughts is a scene of these male geeks and female patriarchs scurrying about trying to put together a memorial to tech womanhood, while Amanda is just thinking about something else… There is something else going on… I’m almost certain that Amanda Silver has an authentic private life—not some line item on resume that stereotypes as an interest “outside of work.” But, of course, I have been fooled by Byzantine-style poses before…

See Amanda Silver and the rest of the VB Team introduce VB9 in the “Live From Redmond Webcast Series.”

I don't know who you are but, man you got that completely right!

She is very different from others. I can't say what it is that makes her so different but... she's really beautiful, and smart too!

Ever since I first saw a video of her explaining about Visual Basic 9, I have searched the net to get my hands on any information available about her.

-- P.S. Whoever took those pictures of her: I'd like to see more pictures of Amanda.
